01Overview
Videtect adds an Auto Detect option to Elementor’s Video widget. Paste any supported video URL and the plugin identifies the source — you do not need to manually choose YouTube, Vimeo, or Self Hosted. It extends the existing widget rather than replacing it, and works with Elementor dynamic content. This plugin is not affiliated with Elementor.
02Features
Auto-detects YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, VideoPress, and self-hosted URLs in the Elementor Video widget.
Detects the video platform from URL patterns so builders spend less time on Source dropdown settings.
Supports YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, VideoPress, and self-hosted files (.mp4, .webm, .ogg, .mov, and more).
Works with Elementor dynamic tags such as ACF fields and post meta after tags resolve.
Extends Elementor’s Video widget with hooks — it does not replace the widget or remove original features.
Existing Video widgets keep working; Auto Detect appears as an additional Source option when editing.
03Who it's for
01
Drop in mixed YouTube, Vimeo, and self-hosted URLs without switching the Source control each time.
02
Drive video URLs from custom fields or post meta and let detection run after dynamic tags resolve.
03
Ship layouts where editors only paste a URL — fewer training steps and fewer broken embeds.
04How it works
Install Videtect from WordPress.org and ensure Elementor 3.0+ is active.
In Elementor, add a Video widget and choose Auto Detect from the Source control.
Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, VideoPress, or self-hosted media URL — the plugin sets the source.
If detection fails, select a source manually from the dropdown; you can always override Auto Detect.
